Weakest ending of any compuer game
| This is probably the best game on the market. Most of the short comings have been noted in other reviews, however, I did not see anyone mention the incredibly weak ending. It goes like this; First, you blow apart Dr. Breens transporter in a firefight that will definitely have your family yelling 'turn that thing down'! Next, Alyx runs out to congradulate you. Then, suddenly, the frame freezes and in walks the G-Man with some boring discourse - end of game. You never resolve the sexual tension with Alyx, drink a beer with Barney, find out what happen to Eli, or finish a Zen conversation with the Vortigaunt. It's as if the programmers stopped short to meet a deadline. | |
BE PATIENT | |
| With all of the people saying how horrible a time it is to install this game I was a bit afraid of buying it. When I got this game it took me all of 15min to have the game installed and up and running. My internet connection isn't anything special but it still wasn't a "hell sent" expedition. If it is going to take a long time to install this game WAIT, it will be worth it in the end.
Just like the first game HL2 brings all of the great graphics, gameplay, and storyline right into your life. You will not be able to stop playing this game untill you are finished. After you are finished the game, it has so many different ways to be beaten at every twist and turn that you have to play it again. The graphics in the game are amazing and if you can run this game at the highest graphic settings then you will be thrown into a world of graphic goodness. This game takes up alot of system resources (with a nVidia 6800 and 1GB of RAM it still slowed in areas) and if you have the system then you will not be sorry for spending the money on it. I dont even have to talk about the story line, it is the best ever. THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAD WAS WHEN MY SYSTEM CRASHED AND I COULDNT RE-INSTALL THE GAME BUT I JUST CALLED VALVE AND THEY HELPED ME GET IN CONTACT WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO WHERE I RECEIVED A NEW KEY. Despite what others say the customer service actually does help. Bottom line is BUY THIS GAME.
Best FPS Ever | |
| I'm typically a big fan of strategy games, and approach FPS games only when I'm feeling a little adventurous and tired of burning down Rome for the fifth time.
Half-Life 2 is the best FPS I have ever played, not that that's a large number of games. Ravenholm out Resident Evils Resident Evil, and really, what game would not be improved by a gravity gun? There's something really amusing when you get really proficient with the gravity gun and start juggling (yes, juggling) Combine soldiers. The gravity gun alone provides more fun than I ever expected out of the game. Counter-Strike on the new engine is a brilliant multiplayer game, and is one of the few multiplayer FPS games I've seen where teamwork is absolutely essential to victory. It looks great on the Half-Life 2 engine, and the crew at Valve are always looking to keep the game balanced. If you're stuck on dial-up, you need to catch up with everyone else or not complain about prolonged download times. A lot of the complaints about download time came on the release day, when half of the gamers on the planet all signed on to the same website. I had no problems a week later. I recommend this game over any FPS, and I will wager it will be the first person shooter that defines first person shooters for the next five years.
